SPC William Alexander “Alex” Rhodes

22, US Army 

November 30th marks the anniversary of the passing of SPC William Alexander “Alex” Rhodes, US Army, 22 of Hurricane WV. Let us remember him, his family, and his mother Amy Rhodes also of Hurricane WV.   

SPC Rhodes enlisted in 2015 and served as an infantry rifleman assigned to 2nd Battalion, 2nd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, stationed at Fort Polk, Louisiana. He died Nov 30th 2017. 

Alex as he was known by family and friends served his country in the 10th Mountain Division in the United States Army. He was a 2014 graduate of Hurricane High School and attended Marshall University prior to joining the Army on October 13, 2015.

Alex married Emily Nicole (Davis) on July 8, 2017. 

A family friend John Salyers said this about Alex. “As a young man Alex went to Calvary Baptist academy with my son Mason. Alex and Mason spent a lot of time at each other’s homes. I really enjoyed it when Alex would come stay with us. They ran the hillsides together from daylight till dark.” “They would take their pellet guns and machetes and the dogs and off they would go.” “He will be missed by all that knew him.”

Alex also enjoyed reading, playing video games and loved animals.
