Pvt Jacob Scott Malcolm

US ARMY - 18 years old

April 12 marks the anniversary since the passing of Pvt Jacob Scott Malcolm US Army. We honor and remember him and his mother Bobbi Jo Malcom-Rubright of Hedgesville WV. 


Pvt Malcolm was born Aug 20, 1999, in Brandon FL. He died April 12th, 2018, at Fort Polk Louisiana. He was an infantry rifleman assigned to 2nd Battalion, 2nd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division. 


He was 18 years old. A proud graduate of Mountaineer Challenge Academy Camp Dawson, Kingwood WV, he enlisted in the US Army at 17.  It is said he had wanted to join the Army since he was 10 yrs. old.


Jacob was a member of New Convent Christian Church. Jacob loved to hunt, fish, mud bog, four-wheel, hang with his friends, and his beloved dog, Henry. He loved music, especially the hip-hop artist Joyner Lucas. Jacob had a love for life and people. Always bringing smile to everyone’s face and he was never afraid of anything.


In addition to his mother he is survived by his brother Shane Rubright of Hedgesville, WV.

SPC. Daniel Frederick Mehringer

US ARMY - 20 years old

April 27 marks the anniversary of the passing of SPC. Daniel Frederick Mehringer of Morgantown, WV.  He died while serving in Afghanistan on April 27, 2007. 


He was 20 years old and was born June 23, 1986 in Elkins, WV, son of Dr. Sandra Leslie Skar of Morgantown and Howard Fredrick Mehringer, Jr. of Belington. 


Specialist Daniel Mehringer was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division, Ft. Bragg, and was serving in Bagram, Afghanistan. He was a paratrooper, and an aviation flight operations specialist. He entered the Army following graduation from high school. He was very proud to serve his country. 

SPC Mehringer attended school in Belington and Morgantown WV, and he graduated from Morgantown High School in 2004, where he met his future wife, Marialies. They were married in June 2006 in the Florida Keys. They were together at Ft. Bragg for six months before he was deployed to Afghanistan. 


He loved his family, his dogs, Thor and Pandora, his horse, D'Artagnan, his Firebird Trans Am, computer games and baseball.
