NEVER FORGET...
SAY THEIR NAMES...

WV Gold Star Mothers

When An Active-Duty Service Member Dies, His Or Her Mother Automatically Becomes A Gold Star Mother. It’s A Distinction That No Mother Wants, But It’s One They Wear Proudly.

Most folks have seen the Blue Star flags that people hang in their windows when their children are deployed in the military. The Gold Star flag is displayed when your child has been killed in action. Gold Star Mothers are mothers that have given the ultimate sacrifice a mother can offer to this great country… her child. In the military community Gold Star mothers are often held in higher esteem than Medal Of Honor awardee’s. To have these ladies as the entity we are supporting with the event is one of the highest honors I’ve ever had. Come help us help these ladies. They really do get things done in the veterans community.

Gold Star Mothers raise funds for veterans, active-duty service members and their families, as well as other Gold Star families. They’re active year-round, creating veterans living memorials for the fallen, visit homes and hospitals, taking them snacks and gifts, and letting them know someone is always there for them. Around the holidays, they raise funds for Wreaths Across America.

The WV Veterans Assistance Project (WVVAP) is a program that promotes the financial opportunities of West Virginia’s motorsports tourism industry.

The WVVAP uses the proceeds from these opportunities to help veteran-oriented agencies in West Virginia.

The WVVAP hosts the Gold Star Mothers Bridge Ride, a motorcycle event that takes place in Mt Nebo, WV. The 2023 ride will be held on Saturday, October 14th from 8 AM–10 PM. The ride will launch from the U-Save Truck Stop and awards will be given at the Tractor Bar.
